I was doing a food shoot for the WI last week at Denman College near Abingdon, and was very struck by these smocks, part of a collection they have of classic old English working smocks.
Some of these are originals and some made from the original patterns - all are beautiful. I particularly like the one with red embroidery inside, which was worn by a pall bearer at a funeral at Itchen Abbas in 1898.

Everything’s going well on the shoot again - differences resolved - shots approved and moving on to a day of sweet things!

Shopping in Lewes
Went to Lewes yesterday afternoon and did a little Christmas shopping despite the wind and rain. These were some of the things I lusted after but didn’t buy - may need a return visit, but not alas for the little antique glass that cost £3000! (Far right in the penultimate pic!)
